What we offer
Craftsmanship that starts with your home, not a catalogue
Finding joinery that genuinely suits your property can be difficult when standard sizes leave gaps, waste useful space or simply don't look right in the room. At T.M. Sullivan Carpenter & Joiner, we take a different approach. With over 20 years' industry experience, we create bespoke solutions around the individual property rather than trying to make off-the-shelf products fit.
From staircase renovations and fitted storage to bespoke joinery, our work combines practicality with appearance. You'll receive one-to-one advice, careful attention to detail and a design-to-completion service focused on achieving the right result for your home. We're proud to have built a strong local reputation through recommendations, serving customers across Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan. Contact us for free, no-obligation quotations.
Our reviews
Yell
Toby replaced our old mahogany staircase with one in an oak and glass: this has totally transformed our entrance hall and the nternal appearance of our home. We have been delighted with the level of craftsmanship and attention to details which Toby has given to the project and would highly recommend him for staircase renovation and any project requiring an original and committed approach.

Love the new stairs. High quality materials and craftmanship. Will definitely contact Toby for any future carpentry needed. Toby is spot on time, his craftmanship is clear to see and everything is tidied away afterwards. Totally trustworthy and a pleasure to have him working on our house.
Bespoke carpentry designed around your property
Your staircase may look tired, your hallway might need more storage, or an awkward alcove could be going unused. These are the kinds of spaces where a considered, made-to-measure approach can make a real difference. We can advise you on the most appropriate way forward, whether that's renovating an existing staircase, creating cupboards and shelving around unusual dimensions or designing storage to make better use of an awkward space.
Our design-to-completion approach means the solution is considered around your property and individual requirements, with attention to detail throughout. T.M. Sullivan Carpenter & Joiner serves Barry, Penarth, Cardiff, Llantwit Major and surrounding areas across the Vale of Glamorgan, providing bespoke carpentry and joinery backed by more than 20 years' industry experience.
Why we stand out
Renovate before replacing
An entirely new staircase isn't always necessary. We can renovate your existing staircase using carefully selected features to give it a fresh look without automatically replacing the whole structure.
Joinery shaped around your space
Standard-sized products don't always work in awkward spaces or unusual dimensions. We create bespoke joinery and storage designed around your property, combining practicality with appearance.
Advice from design to completion
Benefit from one-to-one advice and an experienced approach throughout your project. Our design-to-completion service keeps the focus on finding a bespoke solution that's right for your property.
